The contest was shaped almost entirely by Jagiellonia's extensive squad rotation. Coach Adrian Siemieniec used a wholesale raft of changes early, sending on D. Drachal, C. Polak and A. Konstantopoulos all in the 33rd minute alone, before adding D. Rallis and S. Abramowicz at the interval. The rotation continued after the hour mark, with five further substitutes introduced simultaneously in the 62nd minute — T. Romanczuk, J. Imaz, K. Jozwiak, K. Szmyt and Y. Kobayashi all entering the fray in a single wave of changes that underlined the experimental nature of the fixture for the Polish visitors.
