Leeds United are closing in on the signing of Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi, with BBC News reporting an £8.5m fee has been agreed between the two clubs.

According to the report, the Switzerland international is set to undergo a medical on Monday ahead of finalising his move to Elland Road.

Elvedi, who has been a mainstay in Gladbach's backline for years, would arrive as fresh defensive reinforcement for a Leeds side working to bolster their squad. Further details on contract length and structure of the fee have not yet been confirmed, but the club appear well placed to complete the deal once the medical is passed.
