FC Differdange 03 and Ilves played out a goalless draw at the Stade Municipal de la Ville de Differdange, leaving the first leg of this UEFA Europa Conference League 1st Qualifying Round tie level heading into the return fixture.
The Luxembourg side made an early enforced change, with J. Bedouret picking up a caution in the 17th minute before being withdrawn just three minutes later, J. P. Gomes Ricciulli coming on for Grilo in what looked like a tactical reshuffle following the booking.
Ilves stayed patient and made a double substitution just after the hour mark, introducing Y. Raap and J. Veteli in the 62nd minute as they searched for more energy in midfield. Differdange responded almost immediately, sending on R. Pinto and Gustavo Vintecinco a minute later to freshen their attack.
Discipline became a theme in the closing stages, particularly for the Finnish visitors. J. Kilo was booked in the 65th minute, followed by late yellow cards for M. Rale and J. Kanga in the 85th and 90th minutes respectively, as Ilves seemed to dig in defensively to protect the draw.
