Tottenham's hunt for extra width and creativity has reportedly led them to Benfica's Andreas Schjelderup, though the Portuguese club are said to be in no mood for a bargain sale.
According to English Premier League Index, Spurs have made early contact over the Norwegian winger, but Benfica are standing firm on their valuation, understood to be in the region of £68m for the 21-year-old.
The report suggests Tottenham are keen to add more dynamism and goal threat from wide positions, an area head coach Thomas Frank has reportedly identified as needing reinforcement. Schjelderup, who has impressed since his move to Portugal, is seen as a player capable of adding both flair and directness to the squad.
However, with Benfica unwilling to budge from their asking price, any deal is likely to require patience and negotiation. As it stands, this remains very much an early-stage transfer target rather than a done deal, with Spurs needing to decide whether they're willing to meet the Portuguese giants' demands.
