Hegelmann Litauen and Paide Linnameeskond shared the spoils in a dramatic Europa Conference League first qualifying round opener at Raudondvario stadionas, drawing 1-1.
Paide struck first when A. Badamosi finished off M. Lilander's assist in the 37th minute, giving the Estonian visitors a deserved lead heading into the break.
However, stoppage time at the end of the first half produced a remarkable sequence for Hegelmann Litauen. V. Armanavicius saw his 45+1' penalty saved, but the striker showed great composure to react quickest to the rebound and slot home the loose ball, leveling the score just moments after his initial spot-kick was stopped.
Despite the goal, the scoreline remained unchanged for the remainder of the contest. Both managers turned to their benches extensively in the second half, with Paide making five substitutions and Hegelmann Litauen matching that with five changes of their own, as each side searched for a winner without success.
The result leaves this qualifying tie finely poised ahead of the second leg, with Paide's away goal and Armanavicius's crucial penalty-rebound strike ensuring honors were even after 90 minutes in Lithuania.
