Palmeiras U20 snatched a dramatic 1-0 win over rivals Corinthians U20 in the Brasileiro U20 A quarter-finals, with Vinicius striking in the 90th minute to settle a tightly-contested derby and send Palmeiras through to the semi-finals.

The first half was a tense, tactical affair marked by discipline issues rather than clear-cut chances. Palmeiras saw two players booked in quick succession โ€” Heittor Vinicius in the 33rd minute and Victor Gabriel five minutes later โ€” before Corinthians' Caragua was also cautioned in the 40th minute. Caragua was withdrawn at half-time, replaced by P. Thomas, who himself picked up a late yellow card in the 85th minute.

Both sides rang the changes as the game wore on, with Corinthians making four substitutions in total, including a double change in the 73rd minute involving Amorim Gui and Pellegrin. Palmeiras countered with fresh legs of their own, bringing on Joao Gabriel and Felipe Teresa in the 81st minute.

With the tie deadlocked deep into stoppage time, Palmeiras delivered the decisive blow. Substitute-influenced momentum paid off as Vinicius struck in the 90th minute to break Corinthians' resistance. Nicollas was booked moments later as Corinthians pushed forward in desperation, but there was no way back. Palmeiras U20 progress to the last four, leaving Corinthians U20 to rue a missed chance on home turf.
