Dundee United have added attacking flair to their ranks, confirming the free transfer signing of winger Mehdi Merghem on a two-year deal, according to BBC News.
The 28-year-old joins Tannadice after spending the first half of the season with Bastia in France's second tier, and manager Jim Goodwin believes he's landed a player capable of unlocking tight defences.
"He brings a real creative difference," Goodwin said of his new recruit, praising Merghem's ability to conjure something out of nothing on the pitch.
While the report doesn't detail Merghem's previous clubs beyond Bastia, his arrival as a free agent represents low-risk business for United as Goodwin looks to freshen up his attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
With a two-year contract in place, the winger will be expected to add craft and unpredictability to a United side aiming to build on last season's efforts, giving Goodwin another attacking outlet as preparations continue.
