Slovan Liberec cruised to a 2-1 pre-season victory over Rapid, with a first-half double giving the Czech side control before Rapid's late fightback fell short.
Liberec struck early through L. Masek, who converted in the 8th minute to settle the visitors and put Rapid on the back foot from the outset. The lead was doubled just before the half-hour mark when F. Faye found the net in the 37th minute, sending Liberec into the break with a commanding 2-0 cushion.
Rapid pulled one back shortly after the restart, though not through their own attacking efforts โ A. Buzek turned the ball into his own net in the 56th minute to hand Rapid a lifeline at 2-1.
Liberec responded by making wholesale changes, with manager sending on a striking eleven substitutions all at the 60th-minute mark, a clear sign of squad rotation typical of pre-season testing. Among those introduced were T. Koubek, J. Kozeluh, L. Hulka, J. Mikula, P. Hodous and Buzek himself returning to Liberec's side after his unfortunate own goal contribution to Rapid's tally.
The closing stages were feisty, with Rapid picking up two yellow cards in quick succession in the 73rd and 74th minutes, before Liberec were also booked in the 88th minute. Despite Rapid's late pressure, Liberec held on to secure the friendly win.
