Cardiff City are set to challenge a French court's decision to reject their bid for more than £100m in compensation over the death of Emiliano Sala, according to BBC News.

The Argentine forward died in January 2019 when the plane carrying him from Nantes to Cardiff crashed into the English Channel, shortly after his £15m move between the two clubs was finalised. Cardiff had refused to pay Nantes the transfer fee, arguing the deal was never completed because Sala was not registered as a Cardiff player before his death, and sought damages of their own.

A French judge has now dismissed Cardiff's compensation claim, but the Welsh club say they will appeal against that ruling, per BBC News. The case remains part of a long-running legal dispute between the two clubs stemming from the tragedy, which also led to a pilot being found guilty of manslaughter over the unlicensed flight.
