Andy Flower has taken himself out of contention to become England's next Test head coach, following Brendon McCullum's departure, according to BBC News.
Flower, who previously guided England to Ashes glory and the top of the Test rankings during his tenure from 2009 to 2014, was among the names being touted for the vacancy left by McCullum. However, the BBC reports that the former England captain and coach will not be putting himself forward for the role this time around.
His decision narrows the field for the England and Wales Cricket Board as they search for a successor to lead the Test side into its next chapter. McCullum, who took charge in 2022 and helped spearhead England's aggressive "Bazball" approach alongside captain Ben Stokes, stepped away from the red-ball job, leaving selectors to identify a replacement capable of maintaining the team's attacking identity while building on recent results.
