Celtic have confirmed the signing of midfielder Mika Baur from Bundesliga outfit Paderborn, in a deal worth £6.8m, according to Sky Sports. The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on an initial four-year contract at Parkhead.
Baur becomes Celtic's fourth summer addition, joining Camilo Duran, Kasper Hogh and Haissem Hassan through the door as Brendan Rodgers continues to reshape his squad ahead of the new campaign.
Capped by Germany at under-21 level, Baur began his career at his home club before making the move to Paderborn, where he developed into a regular in their midfield. His performances in Germany's second tier appear to have convinced Celtic that he has the qualities to make an impact in Scottish football.
The fee and contract length suggest Celtic see Baur as a long-term investment in the middle of the park, adding depth and competition to Rodgers' options as the club look to build on last season and challenge on multiple fronts once again.
