Santos U20 produced a stunning second-half turnaround to demolish Botafogo U20 4-1 and book their place in the semi-finals of the Brasileiro U20 A.
Botafogo struck first through substitute Arthur Izaque, who netted just two minutes after coming on for Santiago at the break, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute.
But Santos responded almost immediately. Vitor Fabri leveled matters in the 59th minute, sparking a dramatic collapse for Botafogo. Pedro Assis put the hosts ahead in the 81st minute, finishing off an assist from Nadson, before Fabri struck again in the 88th minute, this time set up by Rafael Gonzaga, to make it 3-1.
Gonzaga then completed the rout deep into stoppage time, converting in the 90+3rd minute off a Leonardo Follmer assist to seal a commanding 4-1 victory.
Botafogo's afternoon was further soured by discipline problems, picking up four yellow cards through Kaua Branco, Fernando Januario, and an unnamed player in the 83rd minute, on top of Santos midfielder S. Pierri also being booked early on.
Both sides made heavy use of their bench, with Botafogo introducing six substitutes and Santos making five changes as the match wore on, but it was the home side's clinical finishing in the final half-hour that proved decisive, as Santos scored three times in the last ten minutes to blow the tie apart.
