Martin O'Neill believes Celtic should not shy away from setting their sights on Champions League glory, insisting ambition of that magnitude should always be the club's benchmark, according to Sky Sports.
The former Celtic boss's comments come as the Scottish champions prepare to face Austrian side LASK in the play-off round of Champions League qualifying, a crucial tie standing between Celtic and a spot in the lucrative group stages. Successful qualification is estimated to be worth around £40m to the Parkhead club.
The stakes are high given last season's painful lesson — Celtic were dumped out at this very stage by Kazakh outfit Kairat Almaty, a result that cost them dearly both financially and in terms of European exposure.
